Inserting Images keep Disappearing

Hi AutoCAD Friends, 

I am new to AutoCAD, been self-teaching for a couple months now. I am having huge trouble with inserting "site photos" (jpg) into my drawing (dwg file) on normal AutoCAD software. I tried the XREF way, they kept disappearing and leaving the trace. Then I tried opening each individual image in with Microsoft Paint and copying and using the PASTESPEC command. Now after using that and trying to plot my sheets, the images are not even visible. I have been inserting these images into paper space.  HELP! This is very frustrating lol! My photos are in a separate file if that is another issue.

If you put the photos on a layer and check mark not plot it won't plot.

Hi Lucy,
Do you have Raster Design? Are you using Vanilla AutoCAD or do you have Civil 3D or Map 3D? Those give you more options.

Open your REFERENCE Manager: are your images listed there and is there a yellow exclamation mark next to them?
Are all of your layers thawed and on?
Are all of your layers INSIDE the viewport thawed/on/set to plot in the VP columns in LAYER command?
