Inserting Blocks

I was able to insert blocks from the blocks palette just fine earlier today but now, they aren't showing up. It is like the program is ignoring the command. Only way for me to get a block in to my drawing is to Control C (copy) and Control V (paste) it in to my drawing. Not sure what system function I would alter to make that happen. How do I fix it?

Those blocks don’t live in the tool palette, they live in a dwg file which  plays host to the blocks. The palette’s role is to make it efficient for you to access that dwg file so you can streamline your block insertion workflow.

Has the location of the block dwg changed? Or been renamed?

The palette icon points to the location of the block drawing. Has the pointer been over written or deleted?

Hi,

I guess your referring to the block palette which is seen in AutoCAD 2020.

Chances are that, the palette might be off screen. Try the following method mentioned in the below link.

Palettes flicker or will not display in AutoCAD

Hi,

Blocks are saved in the separated dwg file. If you start a fresh file, you must declare the blocks again or copy them.

Ultimately, I had to re-set my settings to default. It may have had something to do with a block I inserted and my program locked up which caused something to mess up my settings for inserting blocks. I think it had something to do with the "system variable monitor" message I kept getting. No matter what block I tried to insert from the palette, nothing would insert and there was nothing in the command dialog to tell me what was going on.
