Insert Problems

On some drawings it is impossible to Insert or Paste objects / text / etc. and others it is perfectly fine. For the drawings which are problematic, when typing Insert the object(s) appear on screen; however, it disappears once the insertion points have been inputted.

This has nothing to do with simple layers being switched OFF or frozen, nor does it have anything to do with scales. This is simply puzzling me and it doesn't seem so simple to resolve. Even when you zoom out the program doesn't register any new object(s).

If anyone has had this problem and was able to resolve it, please share.

To make sure that nothing was inserted write into the command line following:

zoom

object

(entlast)

ENTER

select

(entlast)

ENTER

It may have "nothing to do with simple layers being switched OFF or frozen," but could it be a slightly less simple aspect of the same issue?  Are you by any chance working in Model Space through a Paper Space Viewport?  I have occasionally found myself in that situation when the current Layer is frozen not in general but just in that Viewport.  For certain entity types, in the process of drawing them I can see them, but once they are drawn [complete the Text content, for instance], they disappear because their Layer is frozen in the current Viewport, but they're there in Model Space.  But it does vary with entity type -- Blocks, or copied/pasted elements on such Layers, are not visible while dragging to their insertion points, though that may vary by version.

In both the drawing files you are working with, check the system variable -DWGUNITS (include the hyphen when you enter the command) and make sure they are both using the same type of units (even though the UNITS command is set the same in both drawings).

One one occasion it did find one object but I was unable to view it. After closing the drawing without saving and reopening to paste the same object in, one object was found but it was stated that it was not in current space (model)I've then repeated in paper space but the same statement appeared. I then deleted everything from the file and repeated the process; this time it stated that <Entity name: 7ffaaf2f9f0>.

I'll share the corrupt file and a good file in a post above.

Checked them both and both appear as the same. A good command tip though. Thanks.

Impossible to do. I've even wiped off all information and still no luck uploading. I am at work mind so perhaps it's a fire wall issue but it does keep letting me know the max permitted file size and that i have exceeded it.

Upload the file on some public cloud storage and post just a link.

I tried both your drawings on AUTOCAD 2015 - it seems there is no problem. Copy/Paste or Insert... all is working fine.
But you should use PURGE sometimes... your drawings have 15+ Mb, after PURGE the size decrease to 1.2 Mb. If you keep your drawing clean you can avoid some problems like this. And you'll get much better response of the system.
