You can attach an image using the IMAGE command.  What type of image are you attempting to import?

As OLE = Copy&Paste, often the worst choice.

As AutoCAD objects = select excel cells and copy to clipboard (CTRL+C), start pastespec in AutoCAD -> select AutoCAD Objects

As TABLE which linking to the Excel spreadsheet , start the TABLE command!

You can copy and paste special or your can create a data link to the Excel spreadsheet.

They both have their own set of pros and cons.

I believe that box is populated with the software that you have installed and that can be inserted into your drawing.

Have you tried the Copy and Paste Special option or the Data Link option?  Those are the most recommended ways to import portions of an Excel spreadsheet.
