Import survey data points into autoCAD 2014

Hello, 

I work for a surveyor and I am trying to import the points I shot with a total station into autoCAD 2014. The data collector puts the points into a .txt file and that is what I am trying to import. The data is set up as: 

point#,Northing,Easting,"Point description"

Please Help!

No easy way. Vanilla AutoCAD won't know what to do with the Point # and Description, but if you arrange your point file thusly:

5000,5000
5000,5010
5000,5020
5000,5030

Run the POINT command and paste in your X,Y coordinates into the command line. You'll have your points all at once, instead of typing them in one at a time.

For consideration, you could download the trial version of Civil 3D or the DotSoft Add-On:

In addition to Dave's advices, you could also do a search in 'Search This Board' in 'Visual LISP, AutoLISP and General Customization' forum for 'import points' and you should get a lot of threads with the same subject...

Just a question,

don't have 'elevation'?

If you're working for a surveyor, you should really investigate using some software that's _designed_ for doing survey work.  Not only will that make your life easier, it will make your boss more money.  Sure, it's entirely possible to hack your way through a lot of what you need to do, but that's working the hard way, not the profitable way.

Civil3D is one (pricey) option, but also look at Carlson.  C3D has a lot of functionality that's great, but not pertinent to doing survey work.
