How to select/modify/delete viewport on paperspace created from inventor

Hello,

I have created a simple standard dwg file using Inventor.

Please find attached snapshots for steps,

I have used *.ipt inventor files and from that I have placed Viewport's and saved *.dwg file.

Again I opened the saved file in AutoCAD then I am not able to do any operations on that i.e. Select/Modify/Delete

Please find attached "Layout.dwg" file.

Thanks in advance !!!

Regards,

Dinesh

it looks like Inventor put the titleblock in paperspace and your objects as blocks in modelspace.

You can interact with your objects by double-clicking in the viewport (which aren't displayed) and explode the blocks

having said this, I can't figure out where the objects are in modelspace or where the viewports are... but you can bring the objects into paperspace as well.... command is CHSPACE

good luck

The solution to this is when you are in Inventor and go to save out the .dwg file, make sure you choose the "AutoCAD .dwg" option and not the "Inventor .dwg" option. The Inventor .dwg file is attempting to retain control over the file and what get's displayed there. That's the reason you are experiencing the difficulties of this process in Acad after the fact. Saving as an AutoCAD .dwg will allow you to open that file in Acad and make changes to anything. HTH

interesting DWG to say the least !!!!!

I could not find the objects in Model Space either !

I could not select the Paper Space Vports.

But I was able to pull everthing out...........and now they are showing in Model space

And also in the Layout SHEET has one Vport with the title block in paper space.

I have no idea how the DWG ended up like that !!!!

I did a bit of follow-up on this and found this thread from augi in regards to the viewport

http://forums.augi.com/showthread.php?63067-Invisible-viewports-no-lines-no-grips

and the following on the inventor drawing issue

http://forums.augi.com/showthread.php?128429-Drawing-not-visible-in-model-space

It seems that the post by

ampster may solve your problems, but for this drawing, you can just insert the blocks again, and copy them to a new drawing, explode and manipulate them
.

Good luck
