How to know the Levels of top of columns

i'm doing a 3d drawing of a steel structure. I have a grid of steel columns 5 columns in the x dirextion and 5 columns in the y direction (25 columns in all).

all the columns are sitting at the 100"-0" level but the top of the columns all vary in height. is there a way to pick the top of the columns and automatically display the level. I tried with Ordinate dimension... it works for 1 column but the rest i get the level but it gets displayed way out of the drawing. I would basically just like to pick the node of the column and make the level appear. Does anyone know how to do this? Thank you

Think you can see properties of columns in properties panel, but for better advises it will be better see dwg of  that columns

Hi and Welcome to AutoCAD Forum,

Yes you can get that by FIELD command . as you see from attached image you can make your needed settings to get Z coordinate position . see also attached CAD sample file that i prepare for you . just double click on the level then right click on the number with dark grey background ( field ) then select Edit Field to get the attached image . you can use attached level symbol and copy it to many other places then you have to make Regen or Redraw to modify automatically all copied new level positions .
