How to inverse break?

How to inverse break?

For example I have simple rectangle. (I am using AutoCAD 2016)

I need to get figure like on picture 1.

I press "break", choose first point, choose second point as on picture 2.

Unfortunately I get thing as on picture 3.

What am I doing wrong? And it's strange that if I do the same procedure to right edge I get what I need, but I need to do it with left edge (without using mirroring).

Hi,

a polyline has a direction (as you have drawn it), so it makes a difference if your polyline was drawn clockwise or counterclockwise.

In your case there is a better solution available (whenever you want to delete a complete segment of a polyline):

  • Hold the <CTRL> key and then click onto the segment you want to delete (this selects only that segment of the polyline)
  • Press <DEL> to erase it
  • (in that case the direction of the polyline is irrelevant)

yeah! Both of your hints (about clockwise and about <CTRL>) work perfectly even if rectangle was inserted as rectangle (not drawn using polyline)
