How to import .dxe file created in Autocad to Excel?

I know that this question is not an AutoCAD question, but I am striking out finding any help. I need to be able to import the .dxe file that was created during dataextraction into an Excel sheet. If someone could point me in the right direction, I would greatly appreciate it.

Again, sorry that this is not necessarily an AutoCAD-related question.

Thank you in advance.

Hi @Anonymous,

The DXE only contains the parameters for the search and filter criteria and not any data.

You can certainly start a new drawing and run DATAEXTRACTION, pick an existing DXE file and then proceed. If your new drawing does not have all the same types of entities however, the data extraction might not yield any desirable results.

What are you trying to recover from a DXE?

Sorry I didn't get back sooner, John. I appreciate your response. A colleague  and I were working on job for a client, and we'd never used this function. The client misinformed us as to a particular step that they did with data extraction, and we were trying to figure out how to do something that isn't even possible. I apologize for the waste of time, but thank you for taking the time to answer.
