How to autolabel existing block attribute?

I have a few hundred blocks in a drawing with an attribute that needs to have a unique label. The blocks are already placed and need to remain the same location and height/width. All i need to change is giving them unique labels in the attribute.

Is there  a way to do this? I found a lisp that will allow me to create the labels, but it also has me place the block and I would have to redo the height/width and location. All i want to change is the attribute.

The attached image shows a bunch of blocks, and the XX attribute I want to be unique for each panel.

Thanks

unique how? Explain. But note, someone (you) will need to write out all these digits etc. at some point.

Or do you just need to number them in some sequence?

Our app JTB BatchAttEdit could be used for this. You can either create the number serie right in the editor or via Excel.
