How to Add Temperature to Body

Hello,

Using AutoCAD, I have a .dwg file that is composed of several imported geometries.

I'd like to add a Temperature Boundary Condition to some of the imported blocks.

I am not sure how to do this, however.

I tried looking into it on the FAQs and other forums, but couldn't find anything that works or is applicable.

I tried to select 'Solid Heat Load' within the Network section, then select the body in question, but it wouldn't let me select anything.

Also, going through the tutorials (like the Beer Can one), I learned to hit the "Edit Thermal" button, but when I try to select the bodies it won't pop up the corresponding screen once I hit 'Enter'.

Ultimately, I'd like to add an Ambient Temperature of the whole system, initial temperatures for each component, radiation between all components, and conduction between contacting bodies.

I'm new to Thermal Desktop, so anytime is appreciated.

Thanks.

I'm messing around with it and I might've found a solution.

If I add a Rectangle from the 'FD Surface/Solid' group around one of the sides of one of my components, it opens up the Thin Shell Data box.

From here I can mess with the Conduction and Radiation properties of it.

Not sure if this will work for 3D bodies, and it will get complicated once I try to recreate components with greater detail.

Edit: I don't think this will end up working unless I'm missing something. Besides, this method seems a little too complicated so I'm sure there is something I'm missing.

The correct forum? You start by saying that you are using AutoCAD and end up saying you are using Thermal Desktop. I think you need a Thermal Desktop forum.

Great, thanks for the input. I'll look for the Thermal Desktop forums on this website.

Being new to the programs, I thought Thermal Desktop was just an add-on to AutoCAD.

Didn't realize they were completely different.

It's not even an Autodesk product. You're going to have to look elsewhere.
