How model space loads changes after saving, closing, and re-opening same drawing.

I don't use paper space or viewports. All I use is what is drawn in model space.  When I "zoom" "extents" the entire drawing (outer thick border) is completely seen in model space.

When I save, close, and re-open the same drawing, the view of the drawing is now shifted down, about the height of a tab or the command line.

The origin remains at the bottom left corner of the border.

exportmodelspace is set to 0.

ucsicon is set to On and Origin.

It happens when I use 2DWireframe.  It does not cut off in Wireframe, but still does not open with zoom extents view as was saved before closing and re-opening.

Default save as is for 2010.  I am using AutoCAD 2023.

I need it to save so that how I see it when I save and close is exactly how it appears upon opening the same drawing.

Thanks.

Guessing: Your STARTUP is set to 2 ?

If yes, set STARTUP =3 and restart AutoCAD, try it again

Still not working? Please create a sample dwg (sample outer border without the drawing, OR the original one) and share DWG+Screenshots:

Start AutoCAD by your desktop-icon

-create a Screenshot1 by pressing [print] and use paint or word & CTRL+V to create the imagefile.

-open your sample DWG (and zoom&pan how you want, save the DWG file

-create a Screenshot2 by pressing [print] and use paint or word & CTRL+V to create the imagefile.

-close and re-open the file

-create a Screenshot3 by pressing [print] and use paint or word & CTRL+V to create the imagefile.

I can not see all your seetings and your steps in detail, the screenshots can help to find the problem.

Hi @khile,

Thank you for posting. I was able to see the behavior in versions back to 2017, and the file format or version does not seem to make a difference. It almost looks like after it loads the drawing, it then adjusts for the elements on the screen.

I was not able to determine any system variables that affected this, however In 2023, opening a blank drawing first resolved the issue for subsequent drawings during testing. Maybe this will help.

That said, I can see how this could be frustrating and encourage you to submit your experience along with the desired behavior through the Autodesk Product Feedback link, for future consideration if no solution is found.

All the best,

solved!

Startup was already set to <3>  - no change

Profile had been unloaded and reloaded. - no change

All system variables were set according to our system's configuration (job's specs).

Coworker said the Viewcube showed "unnamed" when she opened the drawing.  It still read "WCS" when I view the drawing. When I drop down the arrow and re-select "WCS", the view is automatically reset to zoom extents, and save-close-open opens the drawing in the correct view.

Thanks for the replies! You guys are great.
