How do you OPEN a .bin file in AutoCAD?

Not applicable

Boss gave me a large file (18GB) that contained "autocad" drawings on it. However, this file was saved in a .bin extension. I've never seen this before. Is there an easy way to open or convert this file type to .dwg or .dwf so I can begin working with it?

I did a quick search online and it seems that the thing I'm learning is that whoever the original author to these CAD files was, they encrypted it and it ends up getting saved to a .bin file (if I'm understanding this correctly). There's got to be an easy solution to working with a .bin file within autocad, right?

Somebody please point me in the right direction.

Thank you! ....Hampton

It is worth checking the file header. The file should start with AC10 ... AC1027 for AutoCAD 2013, for example. Run CMD; type more PATH-TO-YOUR-FILE\YOUR-FILE.bin

BIN is garbage, you cannot do anything with it. Help the 'boss' identify what they crabbed and intended to send you, I suspect they have file extensions hidden and assumed the file name alone was good enough.
