How do you manage Layer States in Viewports inside a Dynamic Block?

I have a dynamic block with several visibility states that include different viewports. But once the block is exploded, the viewports go back to their defaulted layer state (all layers on and visible).  I want these viewports to have a handful of layers turned off.

I know you cannot edit viewports inside of block editor (it just shows as a polyline). So,in order to do this, i prepare the viewport layer states (in its model space window), and then copy/paste that into the dynamic block. But every time i explode the block, all layers turn on.

Any advice?

Advice?  Stop trying to use dynamic blocks to layout your sheets.  When you explode a block, the block definition objects replace the block reference objects.  I doubt the xdata used for layer states would survive the explode.

Use the sheet set manager or layout templates instead. I'm not even sure that an imported layout template would correctly import viewports with layer states but it would be worth a try.  If you do the same kinds of work regularly, it might be worth just building a better template with lots of layouts and viewports with the layer states built in.

Thanks, i will try to use Sheet Manager -- if that doesn't work, i'll just
have our team make layer states so can update all the layers in viewports
at once.

Thanks!

You're welcome.   When you get things working like you want, re-post back for the benefit of the group.  I was surprised this year to learn that layer states came in 2 types:  model and paper.  I don't know why I hadn't noticed that before.  I believe paper layer states are applied to the paper viewports themselves as xdata allowing the viewport layer override states.
