How do I make a Dimension Style UN-ANNOTATIVE ?

How do I make a Dimension Style UN-ANNOTATIVE ?

I cannot get the Lineweight to display.

I need to insert this detail into a REVIT sheet, but, it will only have the lineweight displayed in AutoCAD.

I can turn LWDISPLAY "on" or "off" with no affect in the display.

The lines are all equal thickness.

In the Dimension Style Manager, going to Modify, then Fit, I see that the "Scale for dimension features" that "Annotative" is checked, but, also greyout, so, I cannot uncheck it.

Is this the problem?

As far as I know, "annotative" property of dimensions, text, leaders, etc. has no effect on lineweight, only text, arrowheads, offsets, etc. (I could be wrong....) Lineweight is a separate setting in the dimstyle format window- see attached image of the settings for one of my annotative dimstyles.

If this doesn't let you get what you are looking for, you could create a "one-off" detail block, and explode the dimensions. This would give you a collection of polylines and MText that you can assign any individual properties to that you like.

I was looking at the Dimension Styles only because I cannot find anywhere that "Annotative" is found.

I am use to the LWDISPLAY command turning lineweights on or off.

I have been having them displayed both in Paper & Model Spaces for decades.

Now, I can't.

I need the lineweights to be displayed so I can insert my details into REVIT.

I could change the lineweights in REVIT, but, each and every line would need adjusting.

ANY idea how to get the lineweights displayed.

if Lineweight is the issue, 0.00mm to 0.25mm will not show any difference on Screen(see below pic). But it will be visible in the print out(try printing to a PDF).I believe the lineweight data provided in Autocad will be transferred into Revit no matter what. So try making a a PDF and check the Lineweights in those rather than in the display.

Check this : Controlling line weight of imported files

I don't have Revit, so I can't test how things look there, but by selecting dimensions individually (or any quantity at once) I am able to change lineweights in the properties manager, and see them change on-screen with lwdisplay set to ON. They change in a plot, both to pdf and paper too....Changing them in the dimstyle formatter changes all dimensions using the style I change there. Using (plain vanilla) AutoCAD 2019.1.2. After you make the change(s) a regen is required to see the changes happen. If this doesn't work, can you post a file with a dimension that won't change, along with what you want the lineweights to be?

Your were right. Plotting a PDF did show the desired lineweights.

Now, if I can only get then do be displayed in Model Space.

Thanks.

It didn't solve my problem, but, again, Thanks

As I said, Getting them to display in modelspace is not possible. There are pixel size and ratios involved in this and as of now, it is not an option. If you want to see, use a lineweight of 0.30mm or higher.

I don't know how, but, somehow, all of your suggestions put together has somehow solved the problem.

THANKS !!!

S.Faris was right, the lineweights show in a PDF.

BUT, not when exported into REVIT.

Let's start over.

I have different lineweights in my drawings.

With LWDISPLAY, I can have the lineweights thicknesses displayed in both Paper and Model Spaces.

I need the lineweights displayed when I import these AutoCAD Drawings into our REVIT drawings.

Lately, the lineweights have NOT been displayed, whether LWDISPLAY is "on" or "off".

Let's now worry about "Annotative" dimensions anymore.

HOW do I get the lineweights displayed in Model Space again???

I would like to repeat the sentence "If you want to see the lineweight in modelspace, use a lineweight of 0.30mm or higher."

If you asked over at the REVIT forum here (you know, the importing app with the problem), not here with AutoCAD users who never touch REVIT https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/revit-architecture-forum/bd-p/133 those good folks are likely to point you to this requirement for REVIT products to do what you want https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/revit-products/learn-explore/caas/CloudHelp/cloudhelp/2019/EN...

Lineweights need to be assigned in Revit for each CAD detail.

This question is much better suited for the Revit forum where you will find that this workflow is not really recommended and instead it is recommended to recreate/convert them to native Revit elements which are much easier to control.

Rob

Drafting is a breeze and Revit doesn't always work the way you think it should.

I will ask the question over in the REVIT group.

Thanks for the suggestion.
