How do I make a curved cylinder?

No aplicable

Hi, I'm very very new to AutoCAD (just started) and I really hope I posted on the right forum. But basically, how do I make the sides of a 3D cylinder curved like the IRL photo below? Is it possible to make the long side curved?

Thanks!

You could draw a profile of the cross-section and then use the REVOLVE command to create the shape you want.

Draw half a section and use REVOLVE command around the centerline.

For acad 3d modeling, bue sure you know these commands:

1) basic solids (box, sphere, pyramid...)

2) Extrude, Loft, Sweep

3) Union, subtract

4) UCS (Face option and World)

For item 4, understand that 2d acad commands are actually 3d commands that draw on the current "plane" or "ucs".

Once you get that, you realize that if you can set that plane to be some face of a solid, you can draw, rotate, move...whatever, on that plane, and now you are a 3d specialist.

So many people never try 3D solid modeling in acad though, yet its one of the best since its 2d commands and snaps are so good.
