Home view keyboard shortcut

Inventor has a keyboard shortcut for resetting the view to the Home View (F6). Is there a way to setup a keyboard shortcut to do this in AutoCAD?

I have the F6 key mapped to a mouse button in Inventor and this is a cool and quick shortcut to use, but I can't find out how or if I can do it in AutoCAD.

I suggest to follow this Link  and  Link 1  to learn how to customize shortcut keys in AutoCAD.

Good Luck..

Hi,

>> resetting the view to the Home View

AutoCAD has only one build-in "home view" option (and that is not really often used), but you can find it by right-clicking the small house-symbol of the view-cube:

Another option is that you create your individual view (you can call it home-view 😉 ) by using the command _VIEW (after you have set the display to show what you want to have a home-view:

And that you can use the command-line to restore this view:

_-VIEW Enter an option [?/Delete/Orthographic/Restore/Save/sEttings/Window]: _RESTORE Enter view name to restore: HomeView

At least, as @imadHabash has shown, you can make that to a shortcut.

Thanks, I was able to figure it out between using Link 1 and the other instructions provided.

I named the newly created view "home" in the View Manager, then created a new command in CUI, gave the Command Macro the name: ^C^C_-view _restore home, dragged the macro up into Shortcut Keys within the Partial Customization Files above, selected it and then assigned the Access Key to F6. Having one of my side mouse buttons assigned to F6 I can now switch back and forth between AutoCAD and Inventor, having the button do the same thing in both.

The only downside I found is I can't make the new view Fit to View like in Inventor. But with some adjusting of the view settings in the View Manager I was able to get something usable.
