highlighted solid lines appear as hidden lines when I select them

As the title says, whenever I click ANY line (I mostly use solid or continuous lines), the line highlights the grips, but for some reason it recently changed and the line(s) appear to be hidden lines when selected with my cursor. Any way to change this back so the line still appears to look like its original line type? Thank you.

It's not incorrect, it's just the old way from before there was "neon" highlighting.  Read about the SELECTIONEFFECT System Variable, which needs to be set to 1 and Hardware Acceleration needs to be turned on in the GRAPHICSCONFIG command.

You can type in the name of any System Variable, as if it's a command, and it will show you the current value, and you can enter the one you want.  That will handle SELECTIONEFFECT.  For Hardware Acceleration, use GRAPHICSCONFIG [a command, not a System Variable].

I am currently having this issue and when following your steps to correct the inconvenience I realize my hardware acceleration will not allow me to turn it on.

What could be preventing me from being able to turn this on? It states not to turn it on unless there are graphic issues or incapable video card, does this have to be done to fix the dashed selected line issue?

Yes -- that highlighting option certainly qualifies as a "graphic issue," and it is clearly stated that it needs to be on to have the "neon" selection effect.  If it will not allow it, I assume there's something about your hardware that is not capable.

[I would point out that the dashed selection effect does not need to be "fixed," since there is nothing "broken."  The selection effect is a choice, and frankly, I prefer the dashed version, because I find it clearer, with its visibility not affected by the color of what is selected.  But my preference may also be affected by the fact that it was the only selection effect for most of my history with AutoCAD -- the neon effect is a later added option.]

I appreciate the feedback. I will start with correcting the graphic issues and if it changes the selected line display style then great, but if not then I will just welcome the change with open arms. Thank you again for the help.
