Hatching by pick point and interrupting the boundary search

Something that occurs for me all too often is when I pick an area to hatch (by internal point) and AutoCAD *thinks* the boundary is not closed. Mostly there are not too many complex objects on screen to include in the boundary calculation and the error is returned fairly quickly.

HOWEVER. Sometimes when I am using parts of an architectural drawing and somehow their DWG converter makes their wall insulation (looks a bit like 88888888) into a spline. Well, in that case, the hatch boundary search will completely freeze AutoCAD for maybe half an hour. Seriously. I started this post after it locked up and it's still frozen. It will come back eventually but in the mean time I am losing income and costing my Client's time as well. Somehow Splines seem to be the Hatch Boundary's worst nightmare!

All I am asking for is for the coders to insert a more frequent search for a ^C or Esc into the boundary search routine.

Is this possible does anyone know?

Edit: AAAARGH! 20 mins later and still unable to work!!!

Please HELP!!!

If you are using the dialog box or the ribbon, find the boundary objects selection utility.

selectH.pngselectH.png

With the db, you have to expand it.

this button implies that you manage the SELECT command very well.

At least you know that SHIFT helps to deselect (8888).

Autocad hatching is a problem. But when you use all it's tools with ease, you can't find time any more for a coffee break.
