HATCHES IN 3D MODEL

Is there anyway to assign hatches to solid objects so that when I create a section view using a section plane, each of the solid objects generates its htaches based on the object/layer? 

Or if not, is it possible to generate a section plane from a 3d model and add hatches as it was a regular 2d drawing within a viewport? (I rather to avoid the 2d drawings and work all my viewports and its notes/dimenions/ plans/elevations, etc from the same 3d model though)

Would you please post an example drawing (simplified) what you have and furthermore some comments what you want to get.

Which program version do you use?

Plan and elevations are working great with different viewports with VP FREEZE. 

I just don't know how to make a section and show details of the columns and rafters, which I want to add different hatches (metal/wood). I found a way to make a section plane, but it shows all black where the section cuts, I will need a bigger scale for details, so in this case this feature is useless.

We work with Autocad 2017, I couldn't open your file. I really appreciate your willingness to help me!

Attached is the section I got so far. I would be able to add dimensions and notes but the hatch is far from what I need.

Well, in this video (quick and dirty) I show how I would do such a job:

After creating a parent view you can create as many section views as you need. The section views can get a scale factor as you need. And you can modify each hatch as yo need (hatch pattern name, scale factor, rotation, ...).

I hope this is not too far from your workflow (which I still don't know).

Sorry if it is a silly question, I've never worked with that type of views, only viewports.

... and here still some examples what you can do in the Layout.

- Create Detail views

- Add Dimensions (and other annotations)

- Modify the model (e.g. move objects) -> the views and dimensions are corrected automatically

- change the model (e.g. delete geometry, add new geometry) -> see, what happens

- and much much more

If you are familiar with this technique you will be happy.
