Hatch transparency in drawing is not printing as it shows

I have color coded solid hatches in my drawing over a map to specify what is available and off limits.  In my drawing the hatches look ok (Even when I change the transparency in AutoCAD and regen not all the hatches are the same shade).  But when I go to print, regardless of the hatch transparency, all of my hatches print out in a solid color that is not transparent at all. How can I make it so I'm able to see some of the image underneath the hatch?

In the plot dialog box, do you have the Plot Transparency box checked. You have to have the plot dialog box expanded to see this option. Click on the arrow in the bottom right corner.

You will also have the "Shade Options" available once you expand the plot options.

You can also move them to behind everything else, with DRAWORDER, in which case transparency will not be needed.

This is a real help. Thank you. Something we just weren't taught in school.
