Hatch menu

I just upgraded to 2017 last week - I know fun, fun.  I have some hatching in a drawing I had that I am trying to change some properties such as transparency, pattern etc.  I do not get the hatch creation menu that I used to get (in ribbon) when I edited a hatch pattern.  I only get the menus when I create a hatch.  what's up?

Check this setting in OPTIONS.

If not that, then check this out.

Where would that be found in the options? The only hatch selections in options is associative hatch and ignore hatch in snap.

Thanks

Do you not see the inline image? It's clearly marked on there.

I do not have the 3 options to select so I guess "no I didn't see" is the obvious answer.  all I have in my selections is Retain pickfirst.... and object selection max...

My bad @Anonymous. I was using 2014 to make that screenshot. You're right, 2017 is different because they changed the way it works.

Is it possible that the menu file has been modified and that the contextual tab was removed?

I am running 2017.1 and I don't see those choices either.

Maybe you need to change the CUI setting.  See image.

Hi @rcook,

Even thought that ribbon looks like it wants you to create a new hatch it works on your existing ones too. I made a quick video showing an existing hatch in my drawing. When I select it the ribbon shows up for hatches. When I make any changes in the ribbon hatch settings they are reflected in the selected hatch.

Is this what you wanted or did I misunderstand the question?

John,

That sounds like what I am looking for. I get the ribbon when I choose to create a hatch but I do not see the hatch ribbon when I select an existing hatch. I am not sure what the video shows because I can't find it, but it is still early this morning and I am not a morning person.

I don't think @john.vellek understood your original question.

In the meantime, while you try and figure this out, can you run the command HATCHEDIT, select the hatch object, and then make your changes?

Rkmcswain,

Yes, I have been working around this issue, I typically use ribbons so I am more comfortable with them vs typed commands.

Thanks

Understood @Anonymous.

I didn't see a reply to an earlier question -> "Is it possible that the menu file has been modified and that the contextual tab was removed?"

To go along with this, have you verified that the Hatch Contextual Tab is enabled in the CUI?

The contextual tab is there, the 3 selections are not there - where you noted to select show on single click. All that shows are the retain .... Selection and object selection max...

Hi @rcook,

If you haven't made a lot of customizations, why don't you reset your CUI to see if that helps?

I know the 3 selections are not there. Maybe you missed my earlier reply when I said I took that screenshot from 2014 (not 2017).

Take a look at this document on how to PREVENT contextual tabs from appearing. Maybe something on this list has been DONE on your system. (I know it says 2015, but this is when the behavior changed - it's the same in 2017).

Accepted solution

I have looked at the contextual tab in the cui and the hatch creation is set to full with focus - this brings the ribbon up at hatch creation but not at selecting a hatch to edit.  If I set it to full w/o focus the hatch ribbon does not come up at all, even when creating a new hatch.  I have hatch selected in the contextual tab area but no selection to expand or add to it (not sure if it should have).

In answer to resetting to defaults - reset once on the front end - no luck.   I have made quite a few changes since and not ready yet to take the plunge again.

thanks for all the suggestions and help.

You will need to find the tab from the Ribbon - Tab section and drag it to the Hatch Selected Contextual tab area.

Excellent GiantsPirate!!!  That worked.   I have read that paragraph a couple of times but it did not click in my brain for some reason.
