Grid levels from point cloud

I would like superimpose a grid of levels on top of a recap point cloud and calculate the level of each grid point.

The level should be an average based upon the cloud points within a 50 x 50 mm square, the gridpoint being the centre of that square.

I am exporting my cloud from Realworks.

I would like to create gridded points based on say a 50 x 50 mm section from a point cloud.

I use trimble so the cloud comes from realworks into civil cad.

The grid levels need to derived as an average from a section of the point cloud, not just from single point cloud locations.

What you're asking is not available in an out-of-the-box installation of AutoCAD, but may be achieved with a custom LISP routine. You may try posting here: AutoCAD Customization Forum

OK, so you're running Civil3D, that's good, because you have Recap. I don't know about creating a 50x50 grid, but you can easily take your point cloud to Recap and save it to rcp format.

Once you have rcp format, you can close Recap. Insert the rcp file into C3D. Go to Insert tab=>Point Cloud Panel=>Attach button. After insertion, your rcp file will behave like a block or as an single entity.

Select the point cloud entity and you'll get a contextual ribbon. Go to Visualization Panel=>Color Mapping=>Elevation Tab=>Color Scheme=Apply

IDK about average elevation in a 50x50 grid, it's possible you may, or may not, be able to do it in Recap. Otherwise, you'll have to go to third party software.
