Brand new to AutoCAD, other than 20 hours of AutoCAD basics via youtube videos. I need to get to a level where I can generate P&ID and 3D system layouts, including instrumentation and plumbing for a small shipping container sized project.
I have generated P&IDs, and designed 3D electrical and mechanical systems previously in SketchUp, so I feel reasonably comfortable with the system design, but AutoCAD software makes Sketchup look like a play toy, so I'd like advice on how to going about learning the software (and which software to use).
Is Plant 3D the software that I should absolutely use? Or would it be wise at my beginner level to stick with the basic AutoCAD?
What would be a good systematic way to learn? Are the resources with AutoDesk enough? It doesn't seem like, and I haven't found much training material for Plant 3D through AutoDesk.
Local community colleges only have 2D AutoCAD, and I don't see Plant 3D courses, except for a few that come up with google searches, such as CTO.
Any advice greatly appreciated.
