Frame from DWG [Best solution?] - Autocad 2018

Hi,

So I need a solution.

I have one geo drawing that is drawn up in Autocad 2018 and  I need to move a certain selection out of it, which is right in the middle of a big drawing.

Need to put the selection into a frame which is located in another .dwg file and then print it to pdf for presentation.

Have the frame worked out and finished the drawing but i'm missing the key ingredient which is moving the selection into the frame.

p.s. the pdf has to be able to have the layers in it so the visibility of each zone can be toggled on or off.

Anyone that could help a poor soul out ? :corazón_rojo:

-attached a picture of the frame.

HI @Anonymous,

I see that you are visiting as a new member to the AutoCAD forum. Welcome to the Autodesk Community!

I am afraid that I am not able to discern what you are really asking to do from the image you attached. Are you trying to move an image from one file to another? If so, is the image placed using Image attach? If this is the case, you can use the external reference manager to see where the image is located and then in your new file, use image attach and point to the same file.

Please give me some more detail so that I can better assist you with this problem.

Ah sorry, pretty unclear on the problem.

So i need to move a certain selection from a .dwg file (rectangle of objects and layers) and preferably just cut that out of the drawing so it can be inserted into another drawing which is a designed frame to showcase.

Here is the picture of the selection that I need, and as you can see it's in the middle of the drawing and connected in between layers.

So I need a solution to pretty much just cut and paste it into the new drawing.

Hi @Anonymous,

If you are trying get the AutoCAD geometry then you might copy/paste it into your other drawing. Alternatively, you could xref one drawing into the other and use XCLIP to show only the part you want. Another method would be to wblock the geometry and insert it as a block into the other file.  Do you have files you can share? I am happy to make a quick video of these options for you.

Reference the "geo drawing" into your DWG file, then use CLIP command to clip it, have it show only what you wish to see.

Hi @Anonymous;

I think this webinar explains what you need..

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AQoSTVHKNY8

You need to create a layout in the original file, and set a view that shows only what you want..

T frame can be inserted as an xref or as block in the lay out..

Regards!
