FLS files to autocad shapes

I'm currently attempting to convert scan files in to autocad shapes and need some help. Originally I was working with RCS. scan files but the files weren't allowing me to pull centerlines and or geometry in order to convert the scan into intelligent piping components. the only thing I could do was snap to the millions of tiny nodes in the scan. but I need to be able to pipe the scans as I said into intelligent piping components.

Take a look at >>THIS<< AU class - it has a workflow I think you are looking for.

So here's my problem I have FLS. files and RCS. files of the scans I don't have scan processing software, thou I do have access to ReCap. I need to import these scans into CAD Worx plant professional and create an intelligent model to extract ISOS from and so on. I've found that the processed RCS files wont allow me to do so, I was to request the FLS files and work them that way. but I seem to be having trouble still. according to the presentation that you sent me which makes sense to me only problem I don't have access to Kubit Vurtusurv and point sense plant. is there anyway around this? meaning I don't have to ask my IT dept for more software.....

Unfortunately, the only method without the extra tools is to manually add the features using Point Cloud Snaps (digitizing over the point cloud manually).

Copy the original RCS, so you can delete points for good but still have them in the original file. Open the copy RCS files in RECAP. Orbit, window/clip inside or outside as needed to hide areas, so you can fence/delete areas of points. OR just window/clip outside to take measurements.

That's the two ways I use of getting a cleaned up point cloud for pulling dimensions. I would not try to do much of it in AutoCAD. Maybe clean up the scan , and then reference the smaller scan into ACAD.

Hi @Anonymous,

I am so sorry to see that you are still having problems with this data. I am not aware of any reliable way to convert unstructured data to structured. One typically would export the data in a structured format from the native source.

Can you inquire about this possibility from whomever created the scans? Perhaps they can re-export in a different manner.
