Hello dear friends.

I want to lasercut simple 3d object on my laser on Stainless steel 1mm sheet and TIG weld the object back.

In AutoCad.

I create Mesh sphere Cntl select half and erase. What is left I explode to surfaces.

Now I want to put all my 12 surfaces to Z 0 without loosing any sizes or shapes.  Remember I will put peaces back in half sphere 3d shape after cutting.

FLATTEN command not good for me I guess.

To do all this by hend,  have no time. This is only first try.  Will do more complicated objects after.

Please advice  someting. May me LISP (free) ;).

I do not like external programmes.  It get messy for me. I an not pro.

I try unwrap in 3dmax

Still learning how to slice in unwrap.

Also try Blender, Papercut utility.  No success.

SliceforFusion very good programm but do not like triangular surfaces program offers me for cutting.

Please help.

Thank you for your time and effort!

If you want to approximate the sphere with pedal shaped panels here's an option.  Use this site to create a dxf file and then edit in AutoCAD.

What is the object type of the panels before they are repositioned to the xy plane (e.g., polyline, region,...)?

The objects are 3d faces. Can actualy convert to polyline via hatch and hatch outline erase hatch.
