Flat pattern for raised faceted panels

Have been trying to figure this out. I have to make flat patten for a shape made out of sheet metal, where the outside corners of the meeting panels are raised. Looking down on the panel the angle looks like a regular 45 degree, but its not as the panels are raised about 6".

 

Trying to understand the geometry for this as its driving me crazy. Thanks in advance for any help.

Yeah, I'm trying to figure out how to calculate the degree without modeling it in 3D.

Pythagoras is your friend.  The dimension along the slope of the pieces that show as 18" in your plan view is the square root of 18 squared plus 6 squared.  In AutoLisp terms:

(sqrt (+ (expt 18 2) (expt 6 2)))
18.9737

@diglass The proper way to 2 draft this to take the Aligned Dimension which is 18 15/16'' and apply it back in between your 2 straight parts and connect the dots.  The length of the ''aligned dimension'' in your section view will never change no matter how bent it is.

Thank you, thats the simple way, I kind of already figure it out by tinkering with it. Can be mind bending trying to visualize, lol.
