Can you use find and replace also to replace a symbol in the drawing?
I have shut-off valves that I want to switch to adjustment valves on a drawing?

Sincerely
Per-Anders

Hi,

>> Can you use find and replace also to replace a symbol in the drawing? <<

if do you want to replace the symbol then you can make another new block with the same old name. in this way all of the old blocks will disappear and the new one will took a place. also with BLOCKREPLACE express tool you can get it . >> Click <<

Note : try to take a copy from your file and try on it ( just in case ) .

That command is just for text items: is this a text "symbol" you are trying to replace?

You didn't answer @pendean 's question.  Symbol is ambiguous.  Is what you want to replace a font shape in a text string or is it a block or is it something else?

To replace blocks, use the blockreplace  Express Tool or another customized block replace command. Find works well for fonts but would need to be implemented as a font, not just as a shape.

Per-Anders,

Can you attach a drawing so that we can see for ourselves what you are trying to do?

I just thought to be lazy and make it easy for me to replace an old symbol against a new one. Be smart if there were so you could just point a symbol and replace it by pointing to the next one.

As I mentioned, block references, which these are cannot be changed by find but by _blockreplace. The underscore would be required to enter by keyboard if you are using a non English version.

You could also edit the block, which would update all instances of that block. Pretty quick to do.

Is the symbol found in the same font the rest of the words are written in, or did you have to get it from a different font?

Is the font an SHX or a TTF font?
