SHP can either be a shape file or an uncompiled font file: confirm by opening it in Windows Notepad.

It is a shapefile, a geographical map of an oficial website of the city of São Paulo, which indicates that you should open with AutoCAd. I could not open with notepad windows.

Civil3D can import them if they are the correct format first; MAP3D should too, check in MAP3D Help if there is a specific version format requirement first.

There is no specific version, Map3D/Civil3D can open just about any geospacial shapefile as long as all the files are there. There needs to be XXX.shp, XXX.shx, XXX.dbf and maybe XXX.prj (XXX = File name of the shape file)

AutoCAD Map3D or Civil3D can import the geospatial files with the MAPIMPORT command, standard AutoCAD can not with out an add-on, such as ArcGIS for AutoCAD  or Mapworks from Dotsoft

Hi,

>> I tried using both softgware open shp file extension and could not

"Could not" does not give us any possibility to help as we don't see your screen and so ..

  • Which commands did you try to get the SHP data opened?
  • And when you tried them what response did you get from AutoCAD Map 3D or Civil 3D?

If you have Map3D and/or Civil3D you can use commands _MAPIMPORT or _MAPCONNECT, it depends what you want to do with the data too.

And in case it's a GIS-dataset: have you verified that besides of the SHP file you also have a *.SHX and a *.DBF file (with the same name as the *.SHP) as all three files together is one dataset (and can't exist alone).

Hi,

sorry, the link does not give me any information about your situation (maybe because I don't know Portuguese language and so can't navigate through the site).

Let us know what files you have, what succeeded with _MAPIMPORT (as you wrote above) and what failed or what are you missing now.

I accessed all the information needed by AutoCad Map 3D. I used the "mapconnect" command. It was necessary unzip files first, so they could be identified by AutoCad Map.

Thank you very much.

I have licence for using AutoCad 2016 Student. I have 30 days for using trial of the AutoCad Map 3D. To continue using this sofware, I can get the Audo Cad Map Student? or I need to buy one of them now?

Hi,

if you are student you can access all products (I think all products, but I'm not 100% sure about "really all products"), but for Map 3D you can get a license in the same way you've got it for AutoCAD.
