filedia issue in 2022

I have seen a few people having a similar issue with the filedia being set to zero. I have noticed that since i have restarted my computer several times since I updated to 2022 that I have to reset FILEDIA to 1 each time I start a session for the day. I am mostly using Electrical, have opened regular AutoCAD and Architectural once I have set FILEDIA to 1 and have no issue. It seems that once it is set in the morning it is fine but if I shut down and restart or startup for the day after a computer shut down it gets set back to zero. Anyone else experiencing this issue yet? I know 2022 has only been available for a few days.

Hi,

>> a computer shut down

In that case you have issues with synchronization of Windows profiles and not with AutoCAD.

If AutoCAD keeps it's settings when ended and restarted then AutoCAD does it's saving well.

Ask your admin about Windows profile setup after a reboot, which settings are not or only partially synchronized.

Thanks for the help, talked to my admin, he took a look at it what was going on as he was not familiar with cad. After resetting filedia back to zero and setting it back to 1, he asked to see the system variable monitor that is brought up in the command line when you change filedia variable. I reset all, shut down and restarted and it seemed to have worked. Also after seeing the system variable monitor pop up, flashbacks of the last time I updated my software came, and remembered I had this issue back then.....

felix, i should have been more specific with my issue. it was with autocad electrical and not regular autocad. if you are using electrical then you are s.o.l. according to my reseller, electrical was written (coded) so that it is assumed you are opening a drawing from the project manager and not opening from the file folder location on you hard drive or network. so no matter how many times you change filedia setting it will always revert back to it intended setting. i don't know why they would do this for electrical, it annoying. my reseller had some solution but after he explained why and what the solution was i said never mind and left it as is, and just selected balloon notifications pop up and change it every morning i open cad and select a drawing.

Yes, I am using Electrical. I don't always open drawings as part of a project. Why would they disable that functionality? Doesn't make sense. Also I have never had this issue with any other versions (my previous one was 2019), just 2022.

@Anonymous IF, and that's a big if, that is possible you can post in the correct forum here to find out https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/autocad-electrical/ct-p/2035

Or roll back to ACADE2021/2020 if it does not do it, then report the issue to Autodesk yourself like this https://knowledge.autodesk.com/customer-service/account-management/users-software/support-options#:~:text=To%20contact%20support%3A,to%20access%20help%20and%20support.
