Fields, constant across sheets

Hi,

I've just inherited a sheet set from a colleague and this is my first experience of the SSM and fields. The sheets contain fields in place of a titleblock but it appears that if I want to change the draftsman's name I have to do this in each layout. Is there a way to have the fields "linked" in some way so that I just have to change one instance?

In advance, ta.

you can create fields that apply to the entire sheetset, or to individual sheets.  many times the draftsperson name is a per sheet occurance, because you can have multiple drafts people working on the same project.  I havent used SSM in years, but I believe you can add new ssm wide fields and link those to your title block.

I can confirm what Chris said;  you can create Sheetset-wide fields that are setup on a "per sheetset" basis. That being said, all our titleblocks have the "drawn by" field setup on a per sheet basis, because like he stated, each sheet in a set could be done by someone different in our office.

Our standard titleblock has 27 fields in it. Of those, 20 are on a per-sheet basis for various reasons. Of the remaining 7, two are tied directly to the file name for each .dwg file and the remaining 5 are simply sheetset-wide fields that are the same on every drawing across the project.

Thanks, chaps. I'll look into this further.
