FATAL ERROR: Unhandled Access Violation Reading 0x0040 Exception at d3774500h

Hi

Could some one please provide me with a solution to resolve the above error?

This error code haven't been posted or occurred previously.

This  2013 DWG file contained a scanned 3D landscape.

I have used this file on Autocad 2015 and have no issues with it.  Since I have updated Autocad 2017 the above error appeared every time I tried to orbit the drawing.

Thanks

HI Imad,

The latest SP1 is on 26 Jul 2016.

I had installed my AutoCAD 2017 on 29 July 2016 and so my version should have the latest SP1 update?

Thanks for posting.

Kind regards

Raymond

Hi raymond.laiGLTDK,

Welcome to the Autodesk Community!

Type ABOUT at the command line and the installed version will display (and whether or not the service pack is installed)

The error message could be any number of things.  Is it possible to attach your file and the scan so that I can try to duplicate the problem on my end?

Hi John,

After typing "About" on the autocad command line:

A message prompted up: Product Version: N. 104.0.0 AutoCAD 2017 SP1

Please find attached a duplicate of the autocad dwg I am having issues with.

I can zoom in and out but unable to rotate it.

Thank you for looking into this.

Kind regards

Raymond

Hi Raymond,

I am using AutoCAD 2017SP1 also and I installed the Civil 3D Object Enabler. I opened your rather large drawing and ran -purge>regapps and removed 22 applications. Then I ran audit and it erased 12 bad objects. Lastly, I ran an ExporttoAtuoCAD. I have attached my file here so you can test to see if it is more stable now. Note too, the file is now nearly half the size so it should perform a bit quicker.

Hi John,

I have downloaded and installed the Civil 3D Object Enabler on my system so it will be the same as yours. Then I opened the attached file you had provided but the Autocad still prompt the small error when I tried to rotate it using the wcs cube or type a command to 3d rotate.

Were you able to rotate it or manipulate the object?

Hi @Anonymous,

I played for a bit and eventually received the same error message 😞

I restarted AutoCAD and turned off Hardware Acceleration as well as Line Smoothing and I have not been able to reproduce the error.  Please try this and see if it helps on your side too.

There are some serious meshes in this drawing. Do you happen to know if they were created in AutoCAD or some other program?

Strangely, when I took a sample of the drawing, I smoothed and converted to surfaces, the file size of course is LARGE but I can turn on my Hardware Acceleration and have not yet been able to reproduce the error.

Hi John,

Thank you very much for your help.

The issue has been resolved by turning off the hardware acceleration! 🙂 I have tested it out on the main file 35mb and there was no error prompted out or automatically shutting down of AutoCAD!

In regards to your question, I don't have any idea which programs did the surveyor had used to create the drawing.

Have a good day and many thanks again!

Kind regards
