Fatal Error: Unhandled Access Violation Reading 0x0008 Exception at eecf1a1ch

Good day,

I have a problem with a drawing that keeps on crashing, the error I get is Fatal Error: Unhandled Access Violation Reading 0x0008 Exception at eecf1a1ch,

I have done a recovery, audit, copied it to a new layout, no improvement. It does it randomly, not at any specific command or anything I can pinpoint.

I upgraded to 2017 yesterday (from 2016) and the problem persists so it must be an issue with my drawing, can anybody assist please?

Hi @Anonymous,

and welcome to the community Smiley Happy

Sorry to hear that you have such trouble with your drawing. Let's see....

When you say you copied it in a new layout... what do you mean? Copy/Paste?

I haven't opened your drawing, yet, because I need you to do some steps first.

Please use the wbloc-command with the option - select Objects - all and move the complete drawing to a new template. Any changes?

Regards

Hey,

Thanks for the fast reply.

I have moved the entire drawing to the standard AutoCAD Metric template and
saved as a new drawing.

Will work on it and see if it gives any new errors, it usually happens at
about 15 minute intervals so I'll quickly see if the problem was resolved.

Thanks again for the fast response and for the advice, will keep you posted!

Hey,

Still no luck, I moved my drawing to a new layout as per your recommendation, looked good at first, but alas, fatal error again. I suspect my drawing is corrupt. It's a small project so I'll work with it as is, saving every 5 minutes or I'll redraw it all (not willingly Man Sad)

Spoiler

I attach the latest recover file, maybe there is a way to save the drawing?

Thanks for your help so far though, really appreciate it!

Not good .....

ok, I'll check the files now.

Please give me your exact configuration. Has this file been created in 2016 or 2017? Have you migrated the file or just opened?

EDIT: Forget the migration, my bad - that's for Mechanical.

Hey,

I created the drawing in 2016. Our IT guy upgraded my laptop to 2017 yesterday, so I just opened the drawing in 2017 and carried on working.

My laptop is not the right tool for the job but it's what we have. We're looking at upgrading all the laptops/PC's for our CAD detailers later this year.

I attach my system info.

I don't have any custom tools set up in 2017, I'm just using the default toolbars, I also have not changed any system variables except for mirrtext.

Hm..

when I open the drawing it is telling me that this is a AutoCAD 2007/LT file format. How is this possible? Anyway...

Please let your IT guy check this Article and verify it on your system.

We save all our drawings as older versions because not all the consultants we work with have the latest CAD version.

I'll change it to save to the latest version and only save an older version if required by anyone outside our company.

Ok, that does make sense.

Another idea: is your windows language set on English (United States).

Hm.. I am running out of ideas.

The whole time we are talking I am torturing your drawing on Win10 and AutoCAD 2017. It will not crash...

Do you have the latest certified graphics drivers from Autodesk?

And please have the recommendations checked from your IT.

Hey,

Yeah it's frustrating because I worked on other drawings the past few weeks and no issues.

Busy updating AutoCAD and Revit (service packs, enhancements, etc.) Will then check display driver, I have my suspicion re: display card...

Thanks for your ongoing efforts though, much appreciated Smiley Happy

Checked display card drivers, my card is not even listed.... Nvidia GeForce GT 730M

I'll have to talk to our IT guy so he can recommend hardware to the guys upstairs...

Hi @Anonymous,

how did the guys upstairs react? Did you get what you needed?

An update would be perfect Smiley Wink

Thanks

Our workstations do not meet the minimum hardware requirements so we've secured two new workstations. That'll sort out the fatal errors.

Thanks for all the suggestions and efforts on your side.
