External References error

Hello, world!

I am facing a couple of errors that I am not informed about.
1. These errors are displayed in the left side of the reference file name, while usually, they are on the right.

2. These referenced files are Excel Datalinks. They are correctly inserted and have no problem downloading them from source files or updating the content. But these errors are still being seen in the external references.

3. When I delete the links from the file and relink again by a tedious method of inserting them (Data links - New Excel data link - File Position - Full path - Sheet number - and insert table through data link), these errors appear again eventually.

4. When I delete the particular file link with errors, the errors start showing up on other links (but at a time, it shows only on one).

5. When I reset Autocad 2018 settings, and again use with the fresh one, these errors show up again.

Please let me know if you have any idea about what these errors mean and what I can do about it further.

Thank you very much.Capture.JPG

Hello @Anonymous,

Thank you for posting. It seems based on the icons the red arrow is "uploaded" & the ! "unreferenced" but according to the status list your xrefs are "Loaded". Can you verify that the application is functioning properly or are your xrefs giving you other additional problems?

Unreferenced - means that the xref is attached but not inserted into the parent drawing

Unloaded - The referenced file is marked to be unloaded from the drawing

Please feel free to share your drawing it would be best to be able to review the properties, list view etc.

Hello @natasha.l ,

Thank you for your reply.

1. I have reset my Autocad settings multiple times to see if the problem was due to any system file. But that doesn't seem to be the case.

2. All Xrefs are working fine. they are updated and are easy to reload. (Do note that these files are data links of excel that are inserted in the drawing). But, as I have over 96 excel tables attached in the file, the file works slow while saving and relinking all data tables.

3. I started a new drawing with a similar fashion, and as I inserted some files into it, I have realised today that the same issue is been seen in the other file as well. Also that once the file crashed due to some anonymous reason (is definitely related to the number of excel tables inserted into the file), I started with an autosaved backup file and the issue hasn't come up yet. But I am sure that I may encounter it again.

Hence I think it is an issue with the application, but cannot be sure without your help into it.

Thank you again!
