Extend command in Acad 2018 not working the same way as in 2012

In Autocad 2012, I was able to trim and extend multiple lines. But in Autocad 2018, only TRIM command works as expected and EXTEND command does not recognise the selection.

In Autocad 2018, I have to select each and every line separately to extend them whereas in 2012 I can directly use a rectangular select method to extend all the required lines at once (refer attachments).

I have attached the sample file where I am facing this issue along with screenshots of the expected outcome without using multiple clicks for selecting.

Help me out in achieving this Extend command Autocad 2018 also without selecting individual lines one by one.

Hi there and welcome to this forum.
In AutoCAD 2018 you can still use a rectangle selection to extend or trim.

I am aware that it is available but it is not working for the Extend command. Whereas it works in 2012.

Please try it if you can with the attached file.

No problem.
Your UCS is wrong.
Set UCS to World, then use the viewcube to view top or back.
Now Extend will work.

Agreed to your point.

But how come the same file, works with Acad 2012 but not with Acad 2018 ?

I never had any UCS problem with Acad 2012 or 2014 with this file. Why alone having it in Acad 2018 ?

Is there any settings I need to correct ??

Could be a command that you have used in 2018.
If I open the file in 2017 I also have to correct the UCS.
