Exporting point elevation data by using dx command

Hi, I want to export point elevations for creating 3D surface. When I try to export point data with the dx command, z coordinates of all points are exported as zero, except for one point. I need the z values of all points as I will be using them to create a 3D surface. When I select any point with a zero z value during data extraction, it appears as a non-zero value written in the geometry section of the properties panel. For example I chose a point which is 105.45, and position z value shows as 105.45 in geometry panel. How do I solve this problem and export points with z value like written on their geometry panel?

Hello @danismanm, Please answer these questions:

  1. Is your text DTEXT or MTEXT? Go to your image named point.PNG and take another screenshot, this time scroll up so the top portion of the Properties Palette can be captured. Upload this new image.
  2. 3D surface can mean different things to different AutoCAD users. Can you explain what you mean by 3D surface and what you plan to do with it once you get it?

Hi Meltem,
Welcome to the Autodesk Forums.
It looks like you have points and text that you'll need to combine. Can you post your drawing?

Thank you @ChicagoLooper

1. How can I know if it is Dtext or Mtext? I share new image about properties panel.

2. I want to export points for using they at Autodesk Civil3D, and I will use the 3D surface to create topographical contour lines

Meltem,
You don't need to data extract anything. You've already got lots of usable data at elevation in your drawing: texts and contours.

Dear Dave @Pointdump , I need the contour lines of the whole drawing on the dwg file, and I need to have contour lines at one meter intervals.

Meltem,
Some observations.
Your drawing uses Feet Units. I'm guessing units should be Meters.
What's in the drawing:
There are only 4 Points in the drawing.
9200+ text objects at elevation. Over 20 of them are at insane elevations like -25,000,000. Another 20 need to be looked at because they create large peaks and valleys in the surface.
Polylines(contours) at elevation.
3D Polylines. You can use these to create breaklines.
So your job is to first fix the units problem and then decide which elements of the drawing you need to create your surface.
CSV file attached.
Dave
