Exporting AutoCAD to Revit file?

As a furniture dealer, we currently use AutoCAD and CAP 2020 software to plan and specify a variety of furniture products.

We are starting to get requests from designers/architects on sharing our files for their use within Revit?

How do we EXPORT a dwg file to Revit?

Please advise.

Thanks,

there maybe some clean up you need to do in autocad first but revit can open .dwg files

Thanks - I'm assuming that we're best to share the dwg file in 3D. We are wanting to forward this onto the architect for his use in Revit. So there is nothing to 'export' here?

There is nothing for you to do, and for the most part your AutoCAD/CAP 3D furniture content will have no "intelligence" needed by REVIT to fully use it in that program (as long as you all are aware of this fact).

You cannot export to Revit.

You can import .dwg into Revit but they will not be native Revit objects. You will need Revit and someone to convert these files for you for you clients to use.

Drafting is a breeze and Revit doesn't always work the way you think it should.

You can't export to .RVT however .DWG files can be either linked or imported to a Revit project.  You can also export your .DWG to .IFC format from AutoCAD if you like.  I would start by cleaning your CAD file and sending it out as is.
