Export Scale

Is there a way to control the export units? For some reason when I export IGS in Autocad or STEP in Mechanical, my mm drawing is exported in CM so that when re-imported, my scale is 10mm out (500mm is imported as 5000mm).

Hi,

I suggest to change your INSUNITS (System Variable) value . >> Click <<

Hi Imad,

Insunits is set at 4 (mm) and when I went to check the units, I have an option to change the import only, not export. It was set as mm anyhow. Seems to be importing OK, just when I export.

Only as part of the current settings of your source DWG file, never separately.

But you are describing a scaling issue, not units... .

Also check the command -DWGUNITS (note, you need the hyphen).  Even though UNITS (et.c) may set set accordingly, the -DWGUNITS will override whatever UNITS is set to.

The -DWGUNITS comes from when a CAD drawing is created from an Autodesk vertical app.  Whatever ITS units are set to, then it will override whatever the UNITS are when the drawing is opened in "Plain Vanilla" AutoCAD.

Thanks very much for the tip-off.

I was working off a supplied drawing and there -dunits on that were set at "limitless". I changed that to mm and all good. Note for next time!

Thanks again.
