Excel data extraction from AutoCAD shows DeleteMe in spreadsheet

Hi  there Autodesk employees and Autocadders of the world

I have developed a way of automating my quantities lists in AutoCAD using the "eattext" function

I have tried it on 3 different machines, with the same files, my desktop at home (AutoCAD 2018 on Windows 7), my laptop at home (AutoCAD 2018 on Windows 7) and my desktop at work (AutoCAD 2018 on Windows 7). I haven't tried it at work on AutoCAD 2019 on Windows 7 yet as I do have 2019 at work but not at home.

It seems to work okay for smaller test examples, but when I try it on a real life drawing which is quite big with a lot of blocks it seems not to work and come up with the above error message in the excel spreadsheet.

I have read up on it through the Autodesk forum and came up with attached pdf .

See also attached jpeg to show what windows I have here on my laptop at home.

Which windows updates do I need to install?

The windows 7/2008 R2?

The monthly rollup or the security update or both?

I have spoken to my IT person at work and he says windows at work automatically updates and thus is completely up to date. Why is then happening at work as well? Do I need to intall these 2 windows updates at work as well?

First: Make sure it is a windows update problem.

Test it again with a DWG and XLS Filepath and name without any special characters.

For example: APOSTROPHs force the "delete.me" effect too.

Then check your win updates. Is kb4048957  or similar to your os version installed?

This one was never solved. I have temporarily given up on it. My IT guy at work was not

successful in getting it working when I passed him all the info. At work windows updates

are done automatically as and when they come in.

At home, I usually don't bother with the windows updates.

It sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. It tends not to work on the bigger assemblies.

It also tends not to work more at work, where we run off a server, than at home where

I just work off my C drive.

I would still, one day like to get to the bottom of it.

We waiting for you since three weeks :cara_guiñando_un_ojo:

And we are waiting for feedback to our answers:

First: Make sure it is a windows update problem.

Thats the IT Part, but you say it is updated. OK.

>> Test it again with a DWG and XLS Filepath and name without any special characters.

>> For example: APOSTROPHs force the "delete.me" effect too.

I am missing your test feedback&result.

Test it again on a local drive with a DWG and XLS filepath name without any special characters.

Then check your win updates. Is kb4048957  or similar to your os version installed?
