Every time I open a drawing...

When I open a new drawing my DIMSCALE is set to 0'-0 1/4". Why does this change every time I open a drawing.

The issue is that once the dimscale is set for a drawing, I would like it to not change at all and I am finding that I will close a drawing when my dimscale is set to 48, reopen that same drawing and then it will change to 0'-0 1/4".

Any ideas? I tried looking into my ACADDOC.lsp and nothing in that changes anything, at least that I am aware of. Below is exactly what is in the ACADDOC.lsp;

;;;;;;;;;;CREATED BY RANDY CARMINATI;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
(defun C:VPL (/ ss n vp); = Lock All Viewports
(repeat (setq n (sslength (setq ss (ssget "_X" '((0 . "VIEWPORT"))))))
(if (> (cdr (assoc 69 (entget (setq vp (ssname ss (setq n (1- n))))))) 1); not the Paper Space Viewport of its Layout
(vla-put-DisplayLocked (vlax-ename->vla-object vp) -1); lock it

); if
); repeat
); defun

(C:VPL)

;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;

(defun c:navvcubedisplay "0")

(command "insunits" "0")

You have an addon, or a DIMSTYLE definition or more code that you did not post that is doing this for you more than likely.

Any reason you have not adopted Annotative Dimensions (and text and leaders/mleaders) yet? It nulifies the need to use DIMSCALE at all and having many text/dim styles dedicated to just one "plot" need. Worth checking into once you find the routine or add-on that is "helping" you with DIMSCALE variable.

I will take the information you have provided and look more into it.

My templates only have one dimstyle other than the Autocad "Standard" in them, which is Office Standard. I will save the drawing template and then reopen it and an "override" under "Office Standard" is created.

So I am assuming I have to figure out what is creating that override and then I should be able to eliminate the issue.

Corect, AutoCAD does behave the way you want it for the rest of us and we don't have access to your computer or your office network to tell why it would not, so yes, you pretty much have to act as the go-between and help us see what you see and dig a little deeper.

Or if you are feeling brave, reset AutoCAD after you back up all of your customizations and know how to get back to all of your office standards, and that should get rid of the add-on https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/How-to...

I am not able to figure out what SDL is... I am looking through my LSP files and can't seem to figure it out.

Thank you! I have figured it out! It was a failed LSP file that was somehow loading when you open a drawing. I have moved that file and unloaded it from the CUI and everything is working properly.

Thank you!
