I did try a lot, but without succes. It is most irritating.

Disable Dynamic Input (e.g. using the F12 key). Also read about DYNMODE.

What do you want to get rid of? If you are referring to the menu that says stretch and lengthen then set the GRIPMULTIFUNCTIONAL variable to 0. To get rid of the dimensions press F12
