Endless system file - cycle from the abyss

I have been working on two projects that I began myself.  I work alone at home.  One day, I noticed my custom hatch patterns were missing and I copied the file path to them.  Great.  Awesome.  Then I lost my keyboard shortcuts.  I repathed the file.  Shortcuts were back, custom hatches gone.  No problem.  Then I noticed that the batt insulation linetype was showing as dots.  I replaced the ltypeshp.shx file and the batting showed again but my keyboard shortcuts are gone!    The mouse double-click to edit is missing too.  When I replace the acad.CUIX, and restart cad, I then get a window requesting the location of lypeshp.shx again.  Please HELP!  Acad2022

Hi,

 All what you mentioned in your OP is related to your own custom settings. I'm afraid that you have install a plugin or lisp that change your CAD settings!!

This all seems to be happening because of the corrupted profile of AutoCAD. I would suggest you to reset your AutoCAD settings to default settings and setup your profile again from scratch. Then import/define all you custom things into AutoCAD. Also, make sure to create a copy of your profile settings, in case if anything happens later on. The issue I thought is related to some of the "missing" files being under enu/Support and the others being in UserDataCache.  So when I switched back, why didn't everything go back to the way it was?  The only thing that I did was repath the support file path to a different folder that I made with my hatches not realizing that there are other files necessary in the Support folder.  I switched the path back to how it was and all Hell broke out.  I have everything back to how it should be except for the ltypeshp.shx requesting to be opened with a folder window popping up.

I did follow the Import directions but it takes me to a folder and I don't know what I'm supposed to import.  Again, the only thing that I did was repath my support link to a patterns folder.  When I realized that this made me lose my keyboard shortcuts and some linetypes, I switched it back to what it was.  What went wrong?   The only issue remaining is :

Can you please share a screenshot of the Support File Search Paths expanded on the Files tab of your Options Dialog?  You shouldnt be pulling anything from the userdatacache.   If you Reset Settings to default, my recommendation is, just do the reset, dont backup what you had before, if it was broke then, restoring it is probably going to break it again.   Just make sure if you put anything in your c:\users\USERNAME\appdata\roaming\autodesk\autocad 2022\R24.1\enu\support folder is backed up.  Because what happens is that folder gets deleted and recreated.  If you are adding custom hatches, I would recommend putting them all in a folder and then adding that folder to the bottom of your support file search path list.  The software will find them.
