Editing Rows and Columns in AutoCAD

Hi:

I am editing a table that was created originally in Excel but the change is that big that I had to detach the Excel Source and unlock all the cells. Now I have to add and delete rows and columns. Adding or deleting rows is not a problem, the options are available every time I do click in any cell, the problem is when I am trying to add or delete columns: The options in the contextual menu are not available.... how come?

Just in case you know the reason in how is possible to edit rows but not possible to edit columns, please let me know. I have to edit the table using the 2 options. I am adding a .png file so you can have a better idea about was going on

Thank in advance

Ralph

The only way i have been able to duplicate this behavior is by having data links intact.

Would you be able to provide a file so that we can look at it?

Hi @RalphBrown99,

Does this behave differently if you select the column header cell instead of a data cell?

I too would like to see a sample file if you can attach one.

Hi John and "TheCADnoob":

It looks that the same is happening if I choose either a cell or a column header. For sure I am sending the file that opens in Paper Space with the table on it. Please have a look and let me know your comments

Thanks in advance

Hi CADnoob, thanks for your time.

I was able to unlock the column but I still have problems to break the link. In the most of the tables that I have worked before, I do right click>Data Links>Detach Data Link

In the file that I sent you I do no have this option available.

I am sending you 2 .png so you can see the difference in between the option available in the first file and the option not available in the second file

Again, thanks in advance

Yea, i saw the same thing the other day. For the size and content of the table i think you might be better off just recreating the table. (Use MATCHPROP to get it close to the table you currently have) It seems like something is screwy with it. I have seen some elements get corrupted before, like view ports, but i haven't heard of table doing it but id imagine if a viewport can do it so could other elements.

If re-starting the table is not an option you can create a new link and re link the table and then you can regain the ability to add remove rows and columns but the screwey link issue will live on.

Hi RM,

Can you try removing the link using the Data Link Manger?

Hi @RalphBrown99,

Try this please:

Remove the DXE file

type this in the command line: (dictremove (namedobjdict) "ACAD_Datalink")

Then close the drawing and reopen it

Hi John:

Thank you very much for your help. I know that it was long time ago but just now I could see that the solution is working very well.

Thanks again
