using dynamic to draw a rectangle 1.5"x10'

after I enter the 1.5" the curser jumps to y axis instead of being 1.5"

why does it jump to y axis instead of just staying at 1.5"

At the REC command click a point to start drawing the rectangle.

Enter D for dimensions.

Enter 1.5 at the first prompt

Enter 10 at the second prompt

When Dynamic Input is OFF,  AutoCAD defaults to Absolute Coordinates
When Dynmaic Input is ON,  AutoCAD defaults to Relative Coordinates
As stated above, # and @ will force the mode regardless of the "default" setting.
Press F12 for ON/OFF dynamic input

Why are you posting this on the Dynamic Blocks forum?

Bizarre.  Dynamic Input is a general function of AutoCAD that has nothing at all to do with Dynamic Blocks (other than both using the word Dynamic).  Bad move on forum admin.

Just type DYNPICOORDS and set it to 1 (absolute)

The default for input with Dynamic input on is 0 (relative)

It is saved in the registry so it applies to all subsequent work.
