DXF documentation

Hi,

I've had need over the years to write programs that create DXF files. It's been achieved by using a sample DXF file as a reference. But eventually ran into problems with compatibility with newer versions.

Recently, I looked at the Autodesk site again for documentation describing the DXF format in detail.

The best I could find is a link to an online reference for DXF, a download for a Windows help file and a HTML help in zip form, but all of them aimed at DXF 2000, or 2002, vintage.

This may be a silly question, but does full and detailed documentation exist for later versions?

Thanks.

Search again, you can find newer ones, but normally read the dxf documentation online in autocad help.

Sorry, I should have provided more information. I don't use, or have, AutoCad, but a have a need to create DXF files from time to time.

That's why I was looking to download a help file, I'm assuming the DXF format is publicly available, maybe that's where I went wrong.
