How do you turn off DWG TrueView 2015 from being the default program when opening a .DWG file.

I don't think i's a good idea to open drawings by clicking on a file.

To answer your question, you can change the default program to open .dwg files by right clicking a .dwg file, select "open with"

and on the flyout select "choose default program"

Open the program you want to use, and WIndows will remember it until you open the wrong one again. WINDOWS controls this: the tip above may create more problem for you later or simply put things bak to "wrong" for you.

Be a master of your PC and software: "I don't think i's a good idea to open drawings by clicking on a file." is great advise.

I have tried your solution and it works fine until you restart your computer.

We do not open the file by clicking on the drawing file. We have an excel file (drawing index) that has the cell linked to the file. When the cell is selected the file opens in TrueView. This is correct for most of the employees here but there are (7) that need these files to open in AutoCad.

What's the meaning of "have an excel file (drawing index) that has the cell linked to the file"? Open the inserted dwg file from Excel?

You need to make sure that the AutoCAD users last opened AutoCAD rather than Trueview if you are using DWG Launcher, or alternatively force it by chosing the acad.exe for these users...

Take a look at the following link, i used this myself as we wanted DWG Trueview as the default program to open DWG's rather than AutoCAD, purely for license usage etc. Also its too dangerous to allow users to open dwg's in verticals and accidently save in a newer version... https://designandmotion.net/autodesk/mfg-pages/inventor/autodesk-dwg-launcher-wigged-out-fix/

@Yong.Jing I think thats just it, excel hosts links to the drawings on the server which the user uses to open in an autodesk application.

This worked like a charm & yes, the excel files are just a list of drawing numberas with the drawing titles to be used as a look up system. The cell that the drawing number is in is linked to the AutoCAD drawing (.dwg) file for easy access Perfect Thanks
