@Anonymous, try the solutions described here;

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/How-to-create-selectable-and-searchable-text-in-a-PDF-from-AutoCAD.html

EDIT: Apollogies, I can also only select text not search text.

My guess is that you are not using TTF fonts. SHX fonts cannot be made searchable within AutoCAD. Some 3rd party PDF programs can do it, but the results can be sketchy.

Drafting is a breeze and Revit doesn't always work the way you think it should.

To clarify, I think that you mean to say that SHX fonts cannot be made searchable from within PDF viewers. In other words, the strokes of each character become vectors and not "text" inside the PDF.

If it helps any, Autodesk has created a way to turn this geometry back into text (at least with English), with the 2017.1 update for AutoCAD 2017.

Actually, I meant that AutoCAD can't make the .shx fonts searchable but some 3rd party PDF generators can as the OP wants the text searchable within the PDF.
