DWG to PDF Suddenly Very Slow

I was working on a file last night and started plotting to pdf. I plotted out the first two sheets (which are the most complex), and everything went smoothly. I had to end my session for the night and wanted to continue this morning.

Started up AutoCad 2024 again and continued plotting, but then all of a sudden, all of my plots seem to hang at about 5-10% completion, AutoCad freezes for a few moments, but then pulls through with the job. So the jobs lasts up to 15s per sheet instead of the usual 1 or 2s.

The drawings and the file are small and not complex by any means, and this is now happening with all my files.

My laptop is a Lenovo Legion 5 Slim with Intel i7 and a RTX4060, so based on that, everything should run smoothly.

I haven't changed or tinkered with any settings compared to last night when everything was working fine.

What might be a solution?

P.S. I went through the other threads and tried the default solutions for this issue like the background plot setting etc. and nothing seems to work.

This forum is not for plain AutoCAD 2024: are you only using plain AutoCAD2024? ABOUT command will confirm, the topic of this forum is AutoCADARCHITECTURE which is a more industry-focused version.

Where do you store your DWG files?
Where are the PDFs being created?
PLOT parameters are...?
did you try fixing your files and each individual XREF with RECOVER command (then QSAVE so it sticks)?

Do you have the 2024.1 update installed? ABOUT command will confirm if you do.

Hello Pendean, thanks for replying.

Yes, I realized I'm in the wrong forum later on after posting, sorry about that.

I AM working in plain ol' AutoCad 2024.

So to answer your questions:

It's a regular .dwg, stored on my local hard disk, the plot parameters are the same as when things used to work - since there's only shutting off my computer and turning it back on, between when things were working and not, no other changes - when the problem occured I literally used the <previous plot> settings, so the same settings worked previously.

There are no XREFs in my file, it's a really simple drawing, a concept sketch you might say - and the same problem persists with all .dwgs.

The update is installed.

For now, I reinstalled AutoCad and that seems to have fixed the problem for now. I can only wait and see if it happens again. Who the heck knows - with Windows 11 nowadays, I keep running into similar weird problems with various software.
