DWG file saving method in your office

from some reason i didn't found any information about this topic online so i came here.

 i want to make my project files organize in my organization. currently each engineer keep his files as he think. 

what is the most efficient file saving method for you opinion?

saving as the dwg file everyday and put it in folder (dd/mm/yyyy)? work on the same file always and enable file history option somehow?

I suggest you discuss this topic as a group in your organization.

Typically, each project (Client) dictates the method (from simple to complex).

Take a look at this sample from the Port Authority NY NJ:

I would never propose to create a new dwg file and rename it. This destroys all xref links. Instead your IT staff should have in place a method to backup any files that’s changed at end of day. Also deploy shadow copy periodically throughout the day so that staff can restore backup copies in case files get corrupted or overwritten by mistake. Then there are project. milestone copies made and stored for retrieval as needed in case clients decide to go back to a particular design in a point in time. These are just some examples on how to handle file backups and retrievals typically stored on a network server.

We've been saved a handful of times with backups from our IT staff and had strict rules about keeping all our work (not just AutoCAD) on the network for that reason.

We only had about 10 AutoCAD users in our office and had project folders with each of our names underneath a Civil 3D Projects folder on the network so we could get drawings from each other but avoided modifying each others drawings.

With more AutoCAD users a more organized method of saving DWGs would make more sense.
